OPC

OPC is the most up-to-date worldwide standard for interoperability in industrial automation and process control, concerning data exchange between production devices and towards business/office applications and enterprise management systems.
The huge benefit for the enterprises is definite: greatest operating efficiency, lowest interfacing costs, immediate data availability.

FAST S.p.A., member of OPC Foundation from 2000 to 2008, is committing to spead the OPC technology through workshop in fairs/conferences and to develop products according to OPC specifications.

The use of this advanced communication standard based on COM/DCOM technology and implemented with Client/Server architecture leads to robust, fast and high performance communications.

The great innovation of OPC comes from the uniformity of the exchanged data interface, that makes communication and its configuration requirements identical whatever the hardware devices are, that is completely transparent for the final user.

PlantView can be directly connected with OPC servers from different hardware suppliers (PLC, DCS, controllers).

OPC TUNNELING FOR VB
FAST SpA extended the OPC server concept realizing a very powerful software tool whose data source is not a field device (i.e. a PLC) but any OPC client application.
Fast OPC Tunneling for VB is able to drive information computed for example by Visual Basic program (OPC client enabled) and to expose data like an OPC server to any OPC DA Client, allowing reading/writing operations.
This tool can be very useful in integrated system where process control is linked to higher level data management, that is global integration systems like MES and ERP.

REMOTE CONTROL
Fast proposes a server package for remote control and monitoring expecially dedicated to not manned plants.

This element acts on the one hand as an upper layer to OPC/DDE Servers and, on the other hand, as a lower layer for the runtime module in proxy-stub configuration.

The special feature typical of PlantView is the "Remote call on alarm": in this mode the alarms can be configured in order to trigger a call from the remote station (usually in stand-by state) toward the control center.
DDE COMMUNICATION SERVERS
